The types of stroller, explained
Lightweight stroller
A light, narrow stroller that folds small, usually 5 to 8 kg. Made for toddlers and quick trips.
Full-size stroller
A sturdier everyday stroller with bigger wheels, better suspension, a large basket and a deep recline, often with a carrycot option.
Travel system (stroller plus infant car seat)
A stroller sold with, or built to take, an infant car seat that clicks on. You move a sleeping baby from the car to the stroller without waking them.
Jogging or all-terrain stroller
A three-wheel stroller with large air tyres and strong suspension, built for running, parks, trails and rough ground.
Compact travel stroller
A very small, light stroller that folds to about the size of a cabin bag. Made for flying and tight spaces.
Double stroller
A stroller for two children, side by side or one behind the other (tandem), for twins or close ages.
