Mistakes to avoid
- Buying a high-end tablet for video alone. A mid-range tablet shows video just as well.
- Forgetting the accessories. The pen, keyboard and case can add a third to the price.
- Choosing a very cheap tablet with a dim screen and a short update promise.
- Buying a drawing tablet that needs a computer when you wanted a standalone one, or the other way round.
- Overpaying for storage you will not use, or too little storage when apps and files add up.
Check before you pay
- The screen size, brightness and resolution
- How many years of software updates the maker promises
- Whether the pen and keyboard you want are supported, and what they cost
- Storage size and whether a memory card can be added
- Real battery life from independent tests
- The warranty, the local service and the return policy
