Which vacuum cleaner should you buy in the UAE?
Vacuums come as robots, cordless sticks, upright and wet-and-dry models. The right one depends on your floors, pets and how much hands-on cleaning you will do. Answer a few questions and we tell you which kind to buy. Prices below are shown in AED, roughly converted from US dollars, so check the shop's own price before you pay.
What to spend on vacuum cleaners in UAE
Entry level: under AED 550
At this level, a corded vacuum or a basic stick is the best value. Robots here map poorly and clean in random patterns.
Mid range: AED 550 to AED 1,500
The sweet spot: a good stick or a mapping robot with an app, enough for most homes.
Upper range: AED 1,500 to AED 3,350
You get self-emptying robots, mopping and stronger sticks. Worth it if you want to clean less often.
Premium: AED 3,350 and more
Premium models add arms, auto-washing mops and the best suction. Only go here if you want hands-off cleaning.
The types of vacuum cleaner, explained
Robot vacuum
A robot that cleans on a schedule and returns to its dock. Some also mop and empty themselves.
Good: Cleans without you; Great for daily upkeep of hard floors; Smart mapping and app control. Watch for: Cannot do stairs; Needs a clear floor; Weaker on deep carpet.
Cordless stick vacuum
A light, battery-powered vacuum that is quick to grab and easy for stairs and cars.
Good: Quick and easy to use; Good for stairs and furniture; Strong suction on top models. Watch for: Battery limits run time; Small bin; Filters need washing.
Upright or canister vacuum
A corded vacuum with strong suction and a large bin, best for deep cleaning of carpets.
Good: Strongest suction for the price; No battery to wear out; Large bin. Watch for: Heavier and bulkier; Cord to manage; Slower to grab.
Wet and dry vacuum
A vacuum that also washes hard floors and picks up spills, replacing a mop for many homes.
Good: Vacuums and washes in one pass; Good for sticky messes; Pet-friendly. Watch for: Heavy to use; Needs cleaning after each use; Costs more.

The UAE has no fixed cancel-after-delivery period for most items, so the shop's own return policy decides. You can file a complaint with the Ministry of Economy if a shop does not honour it.

Mistakes to avoid
- Buying on suction numbers alone. The brush, the seal and the filter matter as much.
- Buying a robot for a home full of cables, socks and thick rugs.
- Forgetting the battery. A cordless stick's battery is a wear part and costs money to replace.
- Ignoring the dust bin size and how easy it is to empty and clean.
- Paying for a mopping robot and expecting it to scrub like a real mop.
Check before you pay
- How it does on your floor type in independent tests
- Real run time at the power you will use, not the box maximum
- Bin size, and how easy it is to empty and wash
- Noise level and filter quality
- The price and availability of spare parts and batteries
- The warranty and local service
